Happy Camp has enjoyed a three-game homestand but will soon have to dust off their road jerseys. They will square off against the Hayfork Timberjacks at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, both teams will really light up the scoreboard.
In what's become a running theme this season, Happy Camp gave their fans yet another huge victory on Saturday. They claimed a resounding 65-27 win over Bethel Christian at home. Given Happy Camp's advantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 629th, while Bethel Christian is ranked 1416th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Jean Wright was a one-man wrecking crew for Happy Camp as he scored 25 points along with eight rebounds and three steals. Another player making a difference was Luis Osorio, who scored 13 points along with seven rebounds and four steals.
Meanwhile, Hayfork came tearing into Saturday's contest with three straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 29 points) and they left with even more momentum. They walked away with a 70-62 win over Tulelake.
Happy Camp's win was their ninth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 7-1. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 60.0 points per game. As for Hayfork, they have been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six contests, which provided a nice bump to their 12-6 record this season.
Happy Camp came out on top in a nail-biter against Hayfork in their previous matchup back in December of 2023, sneaking past 59-57. The rematch might be a little tougher for Happy Camp since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
