If the Bridge to Independence Wildcats were riding high off their 58-34 takedown of the Saints Academy Lions last Friday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. Bridge to Independence took a 71-59 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Trojan Tigers on Tuesday. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their prior game last Friday (58), Bridge to Independence still had to take the loss.
When it comes to explaining why Bridge to Independence lost, one person who can't be blamed is Jaydan Jeantinord. Despite the final result, he dropped a double-double on 30 points and 16 rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Jeantinord has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Jvarius Gibson, who scored 14 points along with three steals.
Hope Academy's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Willie Griggs led the charge by almost dropping a triple-double on 11 points, nine rebounds, and nine blocks. Griggs is on a roll when it comes to blocks, as he's now posted two or more in the last six games he's played. Another player making a difference was Dwayne Foreman III, who scored 19 points along with five assists and three steals.
Bridge to Independence now has a losing record at 11-12. As for Hope Academy, the victory (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 20-9.
