Willowbrook hasn't had much luck against Lake Park recently, but that could start to change on Wednesday. The Warriors will square off against the Lancers at 4:30 p.m. Willowbrook is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.5 runs per game this season.
Willowbrook will roll into the contest after a wild two-game stretch: they only put up one run on Wednesday, then bounced right back against Hinsdale South on Tuesday. The Warriors put the hurt on the Hornets with a sharp 12-1 win. That looming 12-1 mark stands out as the most commanding margin for the Warriors yet this season.

Willowbrook got a great performance from Noah Edison as he struck out 12 batters over 5.2 innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits. Those 12 strikeouts gave Edison a new career-high.
At the plate, Willowbrook let Vinny Ippolito and Sam Marrese run wild. Ippolito went 2-for-4 with two RBI and one double, while Marrese scored two runs while going 2-for-4. That's the most runs Marrese has posted since back in May of 2024. Charlie Siegler was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 1-for-3.
Willowbrook kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. That's the most hits they've managed all season.
Meanwhile, it may have taken ten innings to finish the job, but Lake Park ultimately got the result they hoped for on Tuesday. They came out on top against Elk Grove by a score of 3-2 (the very same score they lost by in their prior game). The Lancers haven't had any issues with the Grenadiers recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive victory against them.
Carter Magnus looked comfortable as he pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits.
On the hitting side, Max Alvarado was excellent, scoring a run and stealing three bases while going 2-for-3. Chris Ray also deserves some recognition as he hit his first triple of the season.
Willowbrook's record is now 6-2. As for Lake Park, their record now sits at 5-2.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Wednesday as neither team is afraid to steal. Willowbrook has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 2.8 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Lake Park struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 2.9 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
Willowbrook came up short against Lake Park in their previous meeting back in May of 2024, falling 4-1. Can the Warriors avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
