The Dutch Fork Silver Foxes will head out on the road to face off against the A.C. Flora Falcons at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Both teams come into the contest bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Dutch Fork put another one in the bag on Thursday to keep their perfect season alive. They had just enough and edged Spring Valley out 51-49. Given Dutch Fork's advantage in MaxPreps' South Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 16th, while Spring Valley is ranked 62nd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Dutch Fork to victory, but perhaps none more so than Antoinet Cheeseboro, who scored 16 points along with 6 steals. The contest was Cheeseboro's fourth in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Christyonna Jackson, who dropped a double-double on 11 points and 13 rebounds.
Meanwhile, everything came up roses for A.C. Flora on the road against Dreher on Friday as the team secured a 38-9 victory. With A.C. Flora ahead 34-4 at the half, the game was all but over already.
A.C. Flora's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Terriana Gray, who scored 10 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Skylar McCray, who scored 9 points.
Their wins bumped Dutch Fork to 4-0 and Spring Valley to 2-2.
This contest is one where the number of possessions is likely to be a big factor: Dutch Fork have been smashing the glass this season, having averaged 22 rebounds per game. However, it's not like A.C. Flora struggles in that department as they've been averaging 13 per game. Given these competing strengths, it'll be interesting to see how their clash plays out. Dutch Fork didn't have too much breathing room in their game against A.C. Flora in their previous matchup back in December of 2021, but they still walked away with a 51-46 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for Dutch Fork since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
