The University Titans will head out on the road to challenge the Taylor Wildcats at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Both come into the contest bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
University took a loss when they played away from home on Thursday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Wednesday. They came out on top against Winter Park by a score of 4-0.
The result came thanks to Olivia Boon's shutout, as she gave up just three hits. Furthermore, she didn't allow a single earned run, the first time she has blanked an opponent since back in April of 2024.
On the hitting side, Addison Pertler and Mia Fisher did most of the damage at the plate: Pertler went 1-for-3 with three RBI and one double, while Fisher scored a run while going 1-for-2. The team also got some help courtesy of Nina Rios-Cruz, who scored two runs while going 1-for-2.
Meanwhile, everything went Taylor's way against New Smyrna Beach on Tuesday as Taylor made off with a 16-1 win. The Wildcats haven't had any issues with the Barracudas recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive victory against them.
Savannah Pearson made a splash no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, pitching three innings while giving up just one earned run off four hits. Pearson was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run while going 1-for-3.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Amya Ramos, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, five RBI, and two runs. Kendall Miller was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing a base while getting on base in all four of her plate appearances.
Taylor always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .724. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as New Smyrna Beach only posted an OBP of .308.
University now has a winning record of 2-1. As for Taylor, they now also have a winning record of 2-1.
University took their win against Taylor when the teams last played back in April of 2024 by a conclusive 9-3. The rematch might be a little tougher for University since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
