North Pole had to kick off their season on the road on Friday, but they showed no ill effects. They walked away with a 36-23 win over the Chugiak Mustangs. That's more bragging rights for the Patriots, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.

North Pole's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Ean Checque led the charge by throwing for 314 yards and three touchdowns while picking up 11.2 yards per attempt, and also punching in a pair of TDs on the ground. The Patriots' leading receiver Landon Ritter was Checque's top target yet again, picking up 186 receiving yards and two scores.
