The Hilliard Bradley Jaguars are taking a road trip to take on the Mt. Vernon Yellowjackets at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. Hilliard Bradley will be strutting in after a victory while Mt. Vernon will be coming in after a defeat.
On Thursday, Hilliard Bradley needed a bit of extra time to put away Hamilton Township. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 7-6 win over the Rangers. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Jaguars.
Logan Minamyer made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He struck out six batters over 6.1 innings while giving up just two earned (and four unearned) runs off eight hits. Minamyer was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-2 with one stolen base and one run.

In other pitching news, Connor Stubblefield looked comfortable as he tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. He has become a key player for Hilliard Bradley: the team is 2-1 when he allows at most one hit, but 7-11 otherwise.
Back at the plate, the team relied heavily on Vince Navarro, who got on base in five of his six plate appearances with two stolen bases, two RBI, and one double. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in April. Nick Barkhimer also deserves some recognition as he hit his first triple of the season.
Meanwhile, after a string of seven wins, Mt. Vernon's good fortune finally ran out on Thursday. They fell 9-4 to Licking Valley.
Mt. Vernon also got a good showing from Jagger Dohn, who pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Dohn has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than one walk in four consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, Ezra Kurek made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went 3-for-4 with one run, one double, and one RBI. Another player making a difference was Dammon Wolfe, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.
Hilliard Bradley's record now sits at 9-12. As for Mt. Vernon, their loss dropped their record down to 14-7.
