Simon Kenton typically has all the answers at home, but on Friday Highlands proved too difficult a challenge. They blew past the Pioneers 11-2. The Bluebirds might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 12 matches by six runs or more this season.
Highlands got a great performance from Garrett Wiggins as he struck out six batters over five innings while giving up just one earned run off four hits (and only one walk). Wiggins has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two walks in eight consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, Brooks Hendrix was incredible, going 3-for-4 with three runs, two doubles, and one stolen base. That's the most runs he has posted since back in April. Another player making a difference was Jake Robinson, who went 2-for-4 with two stolen bases, four RBI, and one run.
Highlands kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Simon Kenton only managed four hits.
The win made it two in a row for Highlands and bumps their season record up to 22-10-2. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.5 runs over those games. As for Simon Kenton, their loss ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 16-10-3.
As of now, neither Highlands nor the Pioneers have any future games scheduled.
