The Yulee Hornets had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 33 points), and they went ahead and made it three on Wednesday. They enjoyed a cozy 62-48 win over Englewood. That result was just more of the same for these two, as Yulee also won the last time the pair played back in December of 2023.
Leading Yulee to victory were Ace Walker and Christopher Lemon. Walker scored 17 points along with five assists and two steals, while Lemon scored 19 points along with five rebounds and two steals. Walker has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last three times he's played. Another player making a difference was Alex Naumow, who scored 12 points.
Despite the loss, Englewood still got an impressive performance from Nathaniel Moore, who scored eight points along with eight rebounds and three blocks. Moore continues to roll, besting his previous point total in each of the last three games he's played. Michael Thomas was another key contributor, scoring nine points.
Yulee's victory bumped their record up to 11-12. As for Englewood, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost ten of their last 11 matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 2-14 record this season.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Yulee will square off against the Warriors at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. West Nassau is coming into the match on a three-game losing streak. As for Englewood, they will head out on the road to face off against the Wolverines at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Westside is on a four-game streak of home losses, the Rams a seven-game streak of away losses (dating back to last season), but someone's luck is about to change.
