Croatan found their leader in sophomore Kannon McBride, who almost dropped a double-double with 28 points and nine boards. McBride continues to improve, besting his previous point total in each of the last three games he's played. Trey Jones was another key player, dropping a double-double with 17 points and ten rebounds.
Hunt's loss came despite a true team effort with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Na'sir Hines, who to rack up 14 points along with five steals and three blocks. Hines has been hot recently, having posted three or more steals the last four times he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Tyler Pridgen, who posted 16 points in addition to eight assists and five boards.
Croatan's win bumped their record up to 17-7. As for Hunt, their defeat dropped their record down to 18-9.
Looking ahead, Croatan will face off against J.H. Rose at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. J.H. Rose knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past 22 matches -- so hopefully Croatan likes a good challenge. Hunt does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
