Basketball Recap: Union Snags Third Victory in Last Four Games

Union won the last time they faced Ben Lomond and things went their way on Wednesday too. The Union Cougars came out on top against the Ben Lomond Scots by a score of 64-55. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Cougars.

It was another big night for Wayke Olsen, who dropped a double-double on 24 points and 12 boards. Andrus Jensen was another key player, going 6 of 10 en route to 16 points.

Union smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 12 offensive rebounds. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Ben Lomond only pulled down three offensive boards.

Several Scots players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Zeb Whetton, who went 7 for 11 on his way to 19 points and six rebounds. Those 19 points gave Whetton a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Makale Aytch, who posted 13 points.

Union has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four contests, which provided a nice bump to their 13-7 record this season. As for Ben Lomond, their loss was their fifth straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 5-15.

Union will look to defend their home court on Friday against Morgan at 7:00 p.m. Morgan knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 55 points or more in their past 20 games -- so hopefully Union likes a good challenge. As for Ben Lomond, they are taking a road trip to face off against Ogden at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Ben Lomond is facing Ogden at the right time seeing as Ogden is stuck on a four-game losing streak.
