After flying high against the Foothill Falcons last Friday, the Moapa Valley Pirates came back down to earth. Moapa Valley fell to Cedar 35-31. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Moapa Valley has scored all season.
Loss or not, Moapa Valley got some senior leadership from Andie Wood who scored ten points and Haylie Western who scored five points along with six rebounds. Another player making a difference was Savanna Burt, who scored seven points along with six rebounds and four steals.
Moapa Valley's defeat dropped their record down to 7-2. As for Cedar, the win makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 6-2.
Moapa Valley will take on White Pine in a holiday battle at 1:30 p.m. on Tuesday at. White Pine will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Nevada Rankings (they are ranked 76th, while Moapa Valley is ranked 12th). Cedar won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Lehi at 2:00 p.m. on December 16th. Lehi is strutting with some offensive muscle, as they've averaged 51.8 points per game.
