Cactus Shadows is 7-2 against Saguaro since March of 2015 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Monday. Cactus Shadows will head out to square off against Saguaro at 3:45 p.m. Cactus Shadows' pitching crew has only allowed 2.2 runs per game this season, so Saguaro's hitters will have their work cut out for them.
On Thursday, Cactus Shadows didn't have quite enough to beat Arcadia and fell 7-6. The loss was the Falcons' first of the season.
Cactus Shadows got a good showing from Jeremy Larson, who struck out six batters over three innings while giving up three earned runs off four hits (and not a single walk). Furthermore, Larson didn't allow a single walk, the first time he has blanked an opponent since back in April of 2024.
At the plate, Cactus Shadows saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Evan Hanish, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with one double and one RBI.
Meanwhile, Saguaro was able to grind out a solid win over Mesquite on Thursday, taking the game 8-5. The Sabercats haven't had any issues with the Wildcats recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive victory against them.
The team relied heavily on Alain Gomez, who fired off two home runs and six RBI while going 2-for-4. Those six RBI gave him a new career-high. Louis Busseri was another key player, scoring two runs while going 3-for-4.
Saguaro kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 13 hits. That's the most hits they've managed all season.
Saguaro pushed their record up to 9-6-1 with the win, which was their fourth straight on the road. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.0 runs on average over those games. As for Cactus Shadows, their loss was their first of the season and makes their record 13-1-1.
