The Master's Academy Patriots will be defending their home field for the first time this season when they go up against the Calvary Chapel Academy Eagles at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Master's Academy is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.8 runs per game this season.
Master's Academy will roll into the game after a wild two-game stretch: they didn't score any runs on Tuesday, then bounced right back against Brevard HEAT on Thursday. Master's Academy blew past Brevard HEAT 17-3. The win continues a trend for the Patriots in their matchups with the Firehawks: they've now won five in a row.
Chase Bell and Nate Downey were a major factor while hitting and pitching. Throwing, Bell didn't allow a single earned run over four innings pitched. Meanwhile, Downey tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. That's the fewest hits he has allowed since back in April of 2024. At the plate, Bell scored a run while going 1-for-2, while Downey scored a run and stole three bases while going 2-for-6. That's the most stolen bases Downey has posted since back in March of 2024.
In other batting news, Master's Academy let Jacob Higgins and Bryce Ciufo run wild. Higgins scored three runs and stole a base while going 2-for-4, while Ciufo scored three runs while going 3-for-5. The dominant performance also gave Higgins a new career-high in hits (two). Another player making a difference was Joseph Celano, who scored a run while going 2-for-5.
Master's Academy was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .395. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Brevard HEAT only posted a batting average of .217.
Meanwhile, Calvary Chapel Academy fell victim to Merritt Island Christian and their airtight pitching crew on Tuesday. They lost 14-0 to the Cougars. The Eagles haven't had much luck with the Cougars recently, as the team has come up short the last four times they've met.
The victory got Master's Academy back to even at 2-2. As for Calvary Chapel Academy, they now have a losing record of 2-3.
Calvary Chapel Academy's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Master's Academy hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having hit 0 of their hits per game. It's a different story for Calvary Chapel Academy, though, as they've only hit 0 of their hits this season. Will they be able to contain Master's Academy's hitters?
Master's Academy took their win against Calvary Chapel Academy when the teams last played back in March of 2022 by a conclusive 17-1. Will Master's Academy repeat their success, or does Calvary Chapel Academy have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
