The Clarksburg Rockets will take on the Milan Bulldogs at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. Clarksburg is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.2 runs per game this season.
Clarksburg will roll into the matchup after a wild two-game stretch: they didn't score any runs on Tuesday, then bounced right back against Gleason on Thursday. Clarksburg came out on top against Gleason by a score of 10-5. The Rockets haven't had any issues with the Bulldogs recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive win against them.
Addison Milam made a splash while hitting and pitching. She pitched seven innings while giving up just two earned (and three unearned) runs off eight hits. Milam was also stellar in the batter's box, scoring two runs and stealing Two bases. while going 2-for-5. She also hit a triple, marking her first of the season.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Libby Autry, who scored two runs and stole Two bases. while going 3-for-5. She also put up a double, which was her first of the season. Alyssa Belew was another key player, going 1-for-5 with two runs, one triple, and one stolen base.
Meanwhile, Milan came up short against McNairy Central on Thursday and fell 5-2. The Bulldogs have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Like Clarksburg, Milan also got a great game from a two-way player: Camryn Green. On the mound, she pitched five innings while giving up three earned (and two unearned) runs off six hits. Green has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one double and one RBI.
Green wasn't the only one making solid contact as two players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Addison Rushing, who went 1-for-3 with one double and one RBI.
Milan's loss dropped their record down to 4-2. As for Clarksburg, their victory bumped their record up to 3-1.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Friday as neither team is afraid to steal. Clarksburg has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 3.2 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Milan struggles in that department as they've been averaging 7 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
Clarksburg might still be hurting after the 22-0 defeat they got from Milan in their previous matchup back in March of 2016. Will Clarksburg have more luck at home instead of on the road? Check MaxPreps after the match for a full breakdown of the game, commentary, and other softball content.
