Highland Springs has enjoyed the comforts of home their last three games, but now they'll head out on the road. They will square off against the Meadowbrook Monarchs at 7:30 p.m. on Monday. Highland Springs has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 306 points over their last four matchups.
Highland Springs can now show off 12 landslide victories after their most recent contest on Friday. They blew past Varina, posting a 89-14 win at home. Given Highland Springs' advantage in MaxPreps' Virginia basketball rankings (they are ranked 16th, while Varina is ranked 317th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Brianna Shelton and Morgan Boyd were among the main playmakers for Highland Springs as the former scored 18 points and the latter scored 16 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Amirah Collins, who scored 13 points.
Meanwhile, sadly, Meadowbrook is still looking for their first win of the season after 15 contests. They were outmatched by Dinwiddie at home and fell 50-23. Meadowbrook has struggled against Dinwiddie recently, as their match on Thursday was their fourth consecutive lost matchup.
Highland Springs has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 14 of their last 15 contests, which provided a nice bump to their 17-3 record this season. As for Meadowbrook, they dropped their record down to 0-15 with that defeat, which was their 13th straight at home dating back to last season.
Highland Springs strolled past Meadowbrook in their previous meeting back in December of 2021 by a score of 51-36. The rematch might be a little tougher for Highland Springs since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
