Madi Jackson spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned (and one unearned) runs on seven hits and racked up seven Ks.
At the plate, Savanna Gault was cooking despite her team's loss, going 1-for-3 with one home run and two RBI. Katie Iams also deserves some recognition as she hit her first double of the season.
Meanwhile, after only one run in their last matchup, Seton made sure to put some runs up on the board against Scott on Wednesday. The Saints put the hurt on the Eagles with a sharp 10-4 victory. The Saints not only won on Wednesday, but they posted their biggest win since March 27th (when they won 15-9).
The team relied heavily on Maggie Sargent, who got on base in all four of her plate appearances with two runs and two RBI. Kylie Curlis was another key player, going 1-for-3 with three runs.
Seton kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. They are 2-1 when they post 11 or more hits.
Seton's win ended an eight-game drought on the road and puts them at 4-12. As for Mount Notre Dame, their loss dropped their record down to 8-5.
Seton's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Mount Notre Dame has been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 8.8 hits per game. It's a different story for Seton, though, as they've been averaging 11.1 hits. Given Mount Notre Dame's sizable advantage in that area, Seton will need to find a way to close that gap.
Mount Notre Dame came out on top in a nail-biter against Seton in their previous meeting back in March, sneaking past 7-5. Will Mount Notre Dame repeat their success, or does Seton has a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
