After a string of five wins, the Bountiful RedHawks's good fortune finally ran out on Friday. They fell 60-50 to Roy. Bountiful was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Roy apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in February of 2019.
Bountiful's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Carson Smith, who scored 18 points along with nine rebounds. That was a full 36% of Bountiful's points, marking the third time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Charlie Smith, who scored ten points.
It was another big night for Bronson Belnap, who scored 23 points along with nine steals and eight rebounds for Roy. That's the first time this season that Belnap pulled down eight or more rebounds. Dahlen Pontius was another key contributor, dropping a double-double on 13 points and 12 rebounds.
Bountiful's defeat dropped their record down to 10-5. As for Roy, they have been performing well recently as they've won eight of their last ten games, which provided a nice bump to their 9-6 record this season.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Bountiful will take on Woods Cross at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Woods Cross is coming into the match on a three-game losing streak. As for Roy, they will look to defend their home court on Wednesday against Box Elder at 7:00 p.m. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Utah (Box Elder is ranked 71st, while Roy is ranked 60th).
