For the first time this spring, MaxPreps has compiled a list of the Top 25 High School Girls Players to Watch for the 2012 lacrosse season.
Naturally, more of the players come from the talent-rich areas of the Northeast and Mid-Atlantic regions. But the list includes players from each region of the country as top talent continues to spread out west and south.
So, as the season gets underway, here is a look at our Players to Watch, listed alphabetically:
Madison Acton, M, Senior, Lincoln-Sudbury (Sudbury, Mass.)Acton had 68 goals and 37 assists in helping lead the Warriors to the Division I Eastern Massachusetts finals. She has signed with Duke
Shelby Aubin, D, Senior, Needham (Mass.)Aubin collected 55 goals, 32 assists and 40 groundballs for a team that went 21-3 last year. She has signed with Georgetown.

Halley Barnes, A, Senior, Garnet Valley (Glen Mills, Pa.)Barnes collected 118 goals, 40 assists, 83 draw controls and 70 groundballs in leading the Jaguars to a 24-3 mark and their first state championship. Signed with Rutgers, she was especially dominant in the playoffs, scoring 37 goals in eight games.
Brooke Boyd, M, Senior, St. Paul's Girls (Brooklandville, Md.)She was an IAAM-A Conference All Star last year when she led her team in assists. She has signed with Virginia.
Erica Bodt, M, Senior, John Carroll (Bel Air, Md.)She tallied 38 goals, 28 groundballs and 63 draw controls last year. She has signed with Syracuse.
Alex Bruno, A, Senior, Garden City (N.Y.)She helped Garden City win its sixth-straight state title and claim its second-consecutive undefeated season (48 straight wins). She has committed to Princeton.

Taylor Cummings, M, Senior, McDonogh (Owings Mills, Md.)An All-American last year, Cummings had 65 goals and 76 ground balls, leading the Eagles to their second-straight undefeated season (19-0) and third consecutive Interscholastic Athletic Association of Maryland A Conference title. She has signed with Maryland and has 134 career goals.
Sydney DuPre, M, Senior, Episcopal (Bellaire, Texas)A first-team All-American who also earned All-State, All-SPC, All-South Zone and District All-Star honors. She signed with Florida.
Kelsea Duryea, G, Senior, Governor's Academy (Byfield, Mass.)Duryea led the U.S. U-19 team to the gold medal last summer as the starting goalie. She has signed with Duke.
Cortney Fortunato, A, Junior, Northport (N.Y.)Fortunato had 87 goals and 49 assists last year and scored the game-winning goal in overtime to lead her team to the Class A state title over Pittsford. She starred as the youngest member of the World champion U.S. U-19 team and has committed to Notre Dame.
Anne Farnham, D, Senior, Andover (Mass.)Farnham, who has signed with UMass, led the Merrimack Valley Conference champions in ground balls and draw controls. She made the ESPNHS All-American Honorable Mention list and the ESPNBoston.com first team All-State list as well. Farnham has 59 goals and 40 assists in her career, and helped Andover win the Division I state championship in 2010.

Anya Gersoff, M, Senior, Cherry Creek (Greenwood Village, Colo.)Gersoff led Cherry Creek to a 19-1 season and a state championship while scoring 84 goals and earning All-American honors. She has committed to Princeton.
Erin Jeffery, M, Junior, Carondelet (Concord, Calif.)Jeffery had 89 goals and 35 assists last year in leading her team to a North Coast Section Division I title. She has scored 11 goals in the first two games of the 2012 season.
Amanda Lockwood, M, Senior, Milton (Ga.)She amassed 48 goals, 79 draw controls and 51 groundballs and led her team to a 19-11-1 record and a state championship. She has signed with Vanderbilt.
Halle Majorana, A, Senior, Manhasset (N.Y.)A two-time All-American, she has signed with Maryland. She led Manhasset to a 14-4 season with 49 goals and 43 assists last year.
Stephanie Peragallo, D, Senior, Hauppauge (N.Y.)She led her team to a 19-1 season with the only loss coming to undefeated Garden City. An All-American and All-County player, she has signed with Notre Dame.
Carly Reed, A, Junior, St. Stephen's & St. Agnes (Alexandria, Va.)Reed had a school-record and national high 153 goals last year, along with 41 assists to lead the Saints to a 31-2 record and their 18th-straight Independent Schools championship as well as their fifth-straight Virginia state championship. She already has 237 career goals and has committed to North Carolina.
Claire Scarrone, M, senior, Rumson-Fair Haven (Rumson, N.J.)She was a U.S. Lacrosse All-American Honorable Mention and a First Team All-Shore pick last year. She helped her team finish 17-5 last year and has signed with Duke.

Kelci Smesko, M, Senior, Ridgewood (N.J.)Semesko has led her team to back-to-back Tournament of Champions titles and signed with Duke. As a junior, she scored a team-record 92 goals and has tallied 212 goals in her career.
MacKenzie Smith, A, Senior, Vero Beach (Fla.)She led Vero Beach to the state title and had 45 goals and 30 assists. She has signed with Vanderbilt.
Stephanie Toy, M, Senior, Moorestown (N.J.)An All-American last year who also excels in soccer and basketball, she has signed with Notre Dame. Toy had the most clutch effort last year by collecting four goals and four assists and scoring the game-winner in triple overtime in a 14-13 in over Mendham in the Group III championship game.
Kayla Treanor, M, Senior, Niskayuna (N.Y.)

A member of the U-19 team, she led her team to a 15-5 season and the Section 2 championships. She has signed with Syracuse. She led her team in assists and points and was named the CNY Player of the Year and a U.S. Lacrosse All-American.
Emily Tripodi, A, Senior, West Genesee (Camillus, N.Y.)She led her team in assists and points and was named the CNY Player of the Year and a U.S. Lacrosse All-American. She committed to Cornell.
Molly Wolf, G, Senior, Bryn Mawr (Baltimore)Armed with quickness, toughness and smarts, she has signed with Loyola. Wolf helped Bryn Mawr finish 16-3 while earning all IAAM honors last year.
