On Thursday, the Springport Spartans's game was all tied up 35-35 at the half, but luckily for them it didn't stay that way. They walked away with a 63-51 win over Lansing Christian. With that victory, Springport brought their scoring average up to 52.5 points per game.
Springport got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Braydon Hawes out in front who scored 17 points along with 6 rebounds. Another player making a difference was Gibson Overweg, who scored 12 points along with 9 rebounds.
Several Pilgrims players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Collin Leavitt, who scored 17 points along with 4 steals. The team also got some help courtesy of David Hall, who scored 18 points along with 7 rebounds and 5 assists.
The win got Springport back to even at 1-1. As for Lansing Christian, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-1.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Springport won't have much time to rest: their next game is against Vandercook Lake at 7:00 p.m. on December 1st. As for Lansing Christian, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Maple Valley at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
