Baseball Game Preview: Palisade Bulldogs vs. Grand Junction Central Warriors

For the second straight game, Palisade will face off against Grand Junction Central. The Bulldogs will host the Warriors at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. Palisade is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.5 runs per game this season.

Palisade will roll into the matchup after a wild two-game stretch: they only put up one run on Friday, then bounced right back against Grand Junction Central on Tuesday. The Bulldogs blew past the Warriors 10-4. The win continues a trend for the Bulldogs in their matchups with the Warriors: they've now won four in a row.

Christian Herrera and Ascher Morby dominated on the mound. Herrera pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits, while Morby didn't allow a single earned run over four innings pitched. What's more, Morby posted three strikeouts, the most he's had since back in March.

At the plate, Dylon Larson was excellent, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-3. That's the most runs he has posted since back in March. Caleb Blanck was another key player, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 1-for-2.

Palisade kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. They are 3-1 when they post 11 or more hits.

Grand Junction Central is on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-11. As for Palisade, their victory was their first in the league, bumping their league record up to 1-2 and their overall record up to 8-7.

Palisade's speedy runners might be the difference in Friday's contest. The Bulldogs have been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 3.6 stolen bases per game.
