The Muleshoe Mules's road trip will continue as they head out to face the Bovina Mustangs at 6:00 p.m. on December 12th. Bovina took a loss in their last match and will be looking to turn the tables on Muleshoe, who comes in off a win.
Last Saturday, Muleshoe was able to grind out a solid victory over Snyder, taking the game 47-35.
Muleshoe's success was spearheaded by the efforts of Adam Alarcon, who scored 13 points along with 5 assists, and Sebastian Kirven, who dropped a double-double on 17 points and 12 rebounds. The match was Alarcon's fourth in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Sergio Magallanes, who scored 2 points along with 4 steals.
Meanwhile, this season hasn't been kind to Bovina, who are still winless after their eighth contest. They took a 59-53 hit to the loss column at the hands of Whitharral. While losing is never fun, Bovina can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 1277th, while Whitharral is ranked 305th).
Even though the team lost, they still had their share of impressive performances. One of the most dominant came from Angel Lara, who scored 13 points. Another player making a difference was Miguel Lopez, who scored 12 points.
Muleshoe's victory lifted them to 2-2 while Snyder's defeat dropped them down to 0-7.
Keep an eye on the arc in Tuesday's contest: Muleshoe have been dynamite from deep this season, having made 51% of their threes per game. It's a different story for Bovina, though, as they've only made 5% of theirs this season. Given Muleshoe's sizeable advantage in that area, Bovina will need to find a way to close that gap. Check back here after the action for a full breakdown and analysis of the contest.
Muleshoe won a contest that couldn't have been any closer when the teams last played back in December of 2022, slipping by Bovina 52-51. The rematch might be a little tougher for Muleshoe since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
