Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but only the East Poinsett County Warriors walked away with it. They took their game at home on Friday with ease, bagging a 50-14 victory over Bearden. The win was nothing new for East Poinsett County as they're now sitting on nine straight.
East Poinsett County was led to victory by Dennis Gaines and Dee Buchanan. Gaines rushed for 124 yards and two touchdowns on only 13 carries, while Buchanan rushed for 129 yards and two touchdowns on only eight carries. Gaines is on a roll when it comes to rushing yards, as he's now rushed for 100 or more in the last seven games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Cooper Argo, who threw for 110 yards and two touchdowns.
East Poinsett County pushed their record up to 10-1 with that win, which was their 13th straight at home dating back to last season. They've been dominating during the contests in that stretch too, as they've won by an average of 25.62 points. As for Bearden, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 4-6.
East Poinsett County will take on Conway Christian at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Bearden does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
