The Malcolm Clippers will head out to challenge the Bishop Neumann Cavaliers on Friday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, these teams will really light up the scoreboard.
Malcolm is headed into the game after thoroughly thrashing Conestoga: they outscored them in every quarter. The Clippers never let the Cougars get on the board and left with a 53-0 victory on Friday. Malcolm can attribute much of their success to Gavin Little, who threw for 178 yards and three TDs on only 16 passes. Nolan Duzik did his part to keep the secondary busy, picking up 81 receiving yards.
Special teams also played a big role in the game for Malcolm, adding 11 points to the final score. The biggest highlight from special teams (and perhaps the team as a whole) came courtesy of Duzik, who ran a punt back for a touchdown.
Malcolm's defense stepped up as well, laying out the QB six times. Leading the way was Gerrit Dewaard with two sacks.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Bishop Neumann). They blew past Palmyra 63-24 on Thursday. The final result isn't all that surprising considering the Cavaliers' considerable advantage in MaxPreps' Nebraska football rankings (they are ranked 21st, while the Panthers are ranked 127th).
Malcolm better keep an eye on Cayden Wiese. He was instrumental in Bishop Neumann's win, rushing for 46 yards and one score, while also throwing for 100 yards.
Bishop Neumann was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 345 rushing yards. That's the most rushing yards they've posted since back in October of 2024.
Bishop Neumann didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Matthew Thulin and Davis Meis. Thulin got in on the action too, converting a pick into a touchdown.
Malcolm now has a winning record of 3-2. As for Bishop Neumann, their record is now 5-0.
Malcolm was taken down by Bishop Neumann 53-7 in their previous meeting back in October of 2024. Thankfully for the Clippers, Conor Booth (who rushed for 377 yards and eight touchdowns while picking up 14.5 yards per carry) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result? Check MaxPreps.com after the match to find out.
