Softball Recap: Thursday's Defeat Ends Northwestern Lehigh's Winning Streak

Northwestern Lehigh dropped their record down to 18-3 on Thursday, which also ended the team's 17-game streak of wins. They fell just short of the Palisades Pirates by a score of 2-1. The Tigers were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Pirates earlier this season, when they won 6-2.

As for Palisades, the victory was the 14th in a row for them, bringing their record up to 20-3. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.6 runs on average over those games.

For Palisades' part, Karlye Teman spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned run on two hits and racked up nine Ks. Teman has been consistent for a while: she hasn't tossed less than seven strikeouts any time she's pitched this season.

At the plate, Catie Russo was excellent, going 1-for-3 with one home run.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Northwestern Lehigh will challenge Bethlehem Catholic at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The Tigers are facing the Hawks at the right time seeing as the Hawks are stuck on a six-game losing streak. As for Palisades, they will be playing at home against Pen Argyl at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. The last three games the Green Knights have played have been within two runs, so don't be surprised if it's a close one.
