Eastern extended their losing streak to six on Friday, dropping them down to 11-14. They were two runs away from ending the streak, but they lost an 8-6 heartbreaker at the hands of the Marietta Tigers. That's two games in a row now that the Eagles have lost by exactly two runs.
Aedre Ault 2028 was cooking despite her team's loss, going 3-for-4 with two triples, three RBI, and one stolen base. Olivia White 2029 also deserves some recognition as she hit her first double of the season.
As for Marietta, they pushed their record up to 15-11 with the win, which was their sixth straight at home. Those home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.8 runs on average over those games.
On Marietta's side, Abby Miller made a splash no matter where she played. On the mound, she pitched 3.2 innings while giving up no earned runs off three hits. Miller was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with one home run, three RBI, and one stolen base.
In other batting news, Samantha Mayo and Emmy Ward did most of the damage at the plate: Mayo got on base in three of her four plate appearances with three stolen bases and two runs, while Ward went 2-for-3 with three stolen bases and two runs. Ward has been hot, having posted at least one stolen base the last five times she's played. Another player making a difference was Sophie Morris, who went 1-for-3 with two stolen bases, two RBI, and one run.
Looking ahead, Eastern will head out to square off against Trimble at 5:00 p.m. on Monday.
