Interscholastic League [ILH] I recap October 1, 2013
Punahou extended the longest winning streak in Interscholastic League [ILH] I this week by beating 'Iolani, 56-0. The victory was the sixth in a row for the Buff n' Blue.
Punahou took down the Raiders 56-0 last week, the largest margin of any game. Ephraim Tuliloa threw for 84 yards and ran for 67 yards in the win.
Kale Ane's team's offense was tough to stop this week, as it produced the league's top passer, rusher and receiver. Larry Tuileta threw for 139 yards and Kanawai Noa had 100 yards receiving. On the ground Wayne Taulapapa contributed 122 yards. Dylan Combs helped Punahou's passing attack out by catching 2 balls for 46 yards.
Tuliloa provided a threat through the air and on the ground as the Buff n' Blue beat 'Iolani. Tuliloa's favorite target this week was Noa, who caught 4 passes for 100 yards.
Tuileta put up the best numbers in passing as Punahou defeated Wendell Look's team.
Punahou's offense has been unstoppable this season and the Buff n' Blue feature the season leaders in passing, rushing and receiving yards. Tuileta has thrown for 1,149 yards and 10 touchdowns this season, while Noa has 28 catches for 649 yards.
The marquee game in the league this week will be the clash between St. Louis and the Buff n' Blue. The Crusaders comes into the matchup ranked fourth in the state, while Punahou ranks first.
Pac-Five made the biggest leap in the national rankings this week, rising to 8,692 from 9,001. The advance stemmed from a 37-0 victory over St. Francis last week.
