Even though the Pasquotank County Panthers scored an imposing 61 points on Friday, the First Flight Nighthawks still came out on top. First Flight took their game against Pasquotank County 74-61. That result was just more of the same for these two, as First Flight also won the last time the pair played back in February of 2023.
First Flight got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Burke Powers out in front who scored 18 points. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Powers has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Mason Dobie, who scored 15 points.
Despite the defeat, Pasquotank County saw an underclassman step up: Brandon Smith scored 20 points. Smith hasn't dropped below 15points for three straight games. Another player making a difference was Jamari Seymore, who scored 16 points.
First Flight is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 7-9 record this season. As for Pasquotank County, they bumped their record down to 4-9 with that loss, which was their third straight at home.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. First Flight will take on Northeastern at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Pasquotank County, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Camden County at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in North Carolina (Camden County is ranked 460th, while Pasquotank County is ranked 456th).
