The Chester Volcanoes pushed their score all the way to 56 on Tuesday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They fell just short of Portola by a score of 59-56. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Chester in their matchups with Portola: they've now lost five in a row.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Portola to victory, but perhaps none more so than Liam Bowling, who scored 14 points along with eight assists and eight rebounds. That's the first time this season that Bowling posted eight or more assists. Another player making a difference was Connor Sheridan, who dropped a double-double on 11 points and 11 rebounds.
Chester's loss dropped their record down to 8-3. As for Portola, their victory bumped their record up to 10-7.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Chester will take on Redding Christian at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Portola, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Plumas Charter at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Hopefully Plumas Charter focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 14 on Tuesday.
