Basketball Recap: Landon Ballard's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Cross Lanes Christian over Mount Hope Christian Academy

Cross Lanes Christian was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their ninth straight loss. They received a blow as they fell 65-47 to the Mount Hope Christian Academy Warriors. Sadly, that's the second time they've come up short against Cross Lanes Christian this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 63-47 last Saturday.

Cross Lanes Christian's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Landon Ballard, who went 5 of 7 en route to 10 points in addition to six boards and three steals. The dominant performance gave Ballard a new career-high in steals. Christian Shamblin was another key player, putting up 17 points.

Mount Hope Christian Academy got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was TALAN CARON out in front who posted ten points along with seven rebounds and six steals. CARON is on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed three or more in the last 13 games he's played. Another player making a difference was CAYDEN SNYDER, who went 6 for 10 on his way to 15 points in addition to six boards and three steals.

Cross Lanes Christian's loss dropped their record down to 2-14. As for Mount Hope Christian Academy, the win snapped their losing streak at three games and leaves them with a 13-14 record.

Cross Lanes Christian has already played their next contest (against Grace Christian), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. Mount Hope Christian Academy will be playing in front of their home fans against Covenant at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Covenant will roll in looking for their sixth straight victory, something Mount Hope Christian Academy surely won't give up without a fight.
