The Voyageur Academy Cougar scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Tuesday. They rang in the new year with a 101-93 win over Arts & Tech. Given Voyageur Academy's advantage in MaxPreps' Michigan basketball rankings (they are ranked 216th, while Arts & Tech is ranked 441st), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
When it comes to explaining why Arts & Tech lost, one person who can't be blamed is Da'veon Hall. Despite the final result, he scored 30 points. Hall scored a full 32.3% of Arts & Tech's points, the sixth time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. Another player making a difference was Khalif Stovall , who scored 16 points.
The win makes it two in a row for Voyageur Academy and bumps their season record up to 5-3. As for Arts & Tech, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-4.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Voyageur Academy's road trip will continue as they head out to face Detroit Community at 7:00 p.m. on January 9th. As for Arts & Tech, they will square off against University Prep Science & Math at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
