The Rudder Rangers''s recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their fifth straight loss. They were beaten by Montgomery 37-7. The defeat unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Rudder in their matchups with Montgomery: they've now lost four in a row.
Cody Billings threw for 210 yards and a touchdown. Kayden Holmes was his top target, picking up 52 receiving yards.
Leading Montgomery to victory were Dq Swapsy and Reggie Williams. Swapsy rushed for 98 yards and two touchdowns on only ten carries, while Williams rushed for 109 yards and two touchdowns on only ten carries.
Rudder's loss was their third straight on the road , which bumped their record down to 3-7. More embarrasing are the teams that make up that slump in performance: Montgomery, Brenham, and Huntsville. As for Montgomery, their win ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 2-8.
