Basketball Game Preview: Milford Eagles vs. Anderson Raptors

The Milford Eagles will challenge the Anderson Raptors at 7:30 p.m. on Monday. Milford is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 50.6 points per game this season.

Milford is probably headed into the contest with a chip on their shoulder considering Lebanon just ended the team's four-game winning streak on Thursday. They took a 51-46 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Warriors. The loss was a bit of a surprise, as the Eagles came into the match with a sizable advantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 23rd, while the Warriors are ranked 160th).

Despite the loss, Milford saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Gabby Chadwell went 8 of 17 on her way to 20 points along with five rebounds and five steals. Chadwell has been hot for a while, having posted two or more steals the last ten times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Mikayla Chadwell, who posted four points and three steals.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Anderson). They took their game on Saturday with ease, bagging a 64-19 victory over Clermont Northeastern. With the Raptors ahead 43-15 at the half, the contest was all but over already.

Anderson found their leader in sophomore Ella Dreier, who went 6 of 7 from beyond the arc on her way to 40 points. That makes it seven consecutive games in which Dreier has scored at least a third of Anderson's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Ellie Lamkin, who put up five points.

Milford's defeat dropped their record down to 8-3. As for Anderson, with the win, they broke their five-game losing streak and moved their record to 2-9.

Everything went Milford's way against Anderson in their previous meeting back in February of 2024, as Milford made off with a 47-26 victory. Does Milford have another victory up their sleeve, or will Anderson turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
