Dixie is 2-8 against Snow Canyon since January of 2020 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Tuesday. The Dixie Flyers will head out on the road to square off against the Snow Canyon Warriors at 7:00 p.m. Both teams come into the match bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Dixie scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Thursday. They walked away with a 54-46 win over Pine View. The victory made it back-to-back wins for Dixie.
Kealah Faumuina was her usual excellent self, dropping a double-double on 20 points and ten rebounds. She is on a roll when it comes to rebounds, as she's now pulled down eight or more in the last six games she's played. Another player making a difference was Jaycee Bundy, who scored 13 points.
Meanwhile, Snow Canyon came tearing into Thursday's matchup with ten straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 19.5 points) and they left with even more momentum. They secured a 52-46 W over Cedar.
Olivia Hamlin continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines, scoring 20 points along with seven steals and five rebounds. Hamlin is absolutely dominating the point category: she's posted at least 15 every time she's taken the court this season. Kelly Howard was another key contributor, scoring seven points along with four steals.
Dixie has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matches, which provided a nice bump to their 8-6 record this season. As for Snow Canyon, they pushed their record up to 12-1 with that victory, which was their 12th straight on the road dating back to last season.
Tuesday's game is shaping up to be a scrappy game: Dixie have been smashing the glass this season, having only averaged 31.4 rebounds per game. It's a different story for Snow Canyon, though, as they've been averaging only 28.8 rebounds per game. Given Dixie's sizeable advantage in that area, Snow Canyon will need to find a way to close that gap.
Dixie suffered a grim 64-39 defeat to Snow Canyon in their previous matchup back in February of 2023. Can Dixie avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
