The Chugiak Mustangs scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Friday. They were the clear victor by a 73-48 margin over Minto. The win was some much needed relief for Chugiak as it spelled an end to their four-game losing streak.
Minto's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Andrew David, who scored 18 points. David has been hot recently, having posted 15 or more points the last six times he's played. Another player making a difference was Marsten Capelle, who scored 18 points.
Chugiak's win ended a eight-game drought at home dating back to last season and bumped them up to 3-4. As for Minto, their defeat ended a 11-game streak of away wins dating back to last season and brought them to 9-1.
Chugiak will stay at home for another game and welcome Dimond at 7:30 p.m. on January 16th. As for Minto, Minto and Lumen Christi will face off on January 13th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Lumen Christi will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Alaska Rankings (they are ranked 62nd, while Minto is ranked fourth).
