Mount St. Charles Academy can now show off four landslide victories after their most recent match. They were the clear victor by a 65-42 margin over Coventry. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest win Mount St. Charles Academy has posted since December 21, 2023.
Mount St. Charles Academy's success was spearheaded by the efforts of Emma Roberts, who scored 17 points along with eight rebounds, and Addie Stojanowski, who scored 18 points along with six rebounds and three blocks. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Stojanowski has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Addie Johnson, who scored ten points along with five rebounds.
Meanwhile, Smithfield faced Cumberland in a battle between two of the state's top teams. Smithfield was just a bucket shy of victory on Thursday and fell 45-44 to Cumberland. Smithfield has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Even though the team lost, they still had their share of impressive performances. One of the most dominant came from Krista Kasbarian, who scored 13 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Ashley Gagner, who scored nine points.
Mount St. Charles Academy pushed their record up to 9-3 with that victory, which was their third straight at home. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 56.3 points per game. As for Smithfield, their defeat dropped their record down to 5-4.
Keep an eye on the arc in Wednesday's contest: Mount St. Charles Academy have made nailing deep shots look easy this year this season, having only averaged 5.2 threes per game. It's a different story for Smithfield, though, as they've been averaging only 2 threes per game. Given Mount St. Charles Academy's sizeable advantage in that area, Smithfield will need to find a way to close that gap.
Mount St. Charles Academy beat Smithfield 57-45 in their previous matchup back in January of 2023. The rematch might be a little tougher for Mount St. Charles Academy since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
