The Pueblo South Colts's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Wednesday after their third straight loss. They took a 71-63 hit to the loss column at the hands of Sierra Vista. Having run the score up that high, both teams might be doing some extra defensive drills very soon.
When it comes to explaining why Pueblo South lost, one person who can't be blamed is Maurice Austin. Despite the final result, he scored 39 points along with eight steals and six rebounds. Austin scored a full 61.9% of Pueblo South's points, the seventh time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. Andres Cura was another key contributor, scoring 11 points.
Pueblo South now has a losing record at 3-4. As for Sierra Vista, the victory got them back to even at 3-3.
Pueblo South won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against Nanakuli at 10:00 a.m. on December 21st. Nanakuli is hoping to put an end to a five-game streak of away losses. Sierra Vista will finish 2023 at home by hosting Pusch Ridge Christian Academy at 4:30 p.m. on December 29th.
