Softball Recap: Central Extends Winning Streak to 13

Central had already won 12 in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 6 runs) and they went ahead and made it 13 on Wednesday. They beat the Auburn Tigers by the very same score they won with in their prior game: 11-1. Considering the Red Devils have won 18 contests by more than five runs this season, Wednesday's blowout was nothing new.

Kayla Storey spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered a run (which was unearned) on seven hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks any time she's pitched this season.

At the plate, Central let Mariah Harrison and Gerritt Griggs run wild. Harrison went 3-for-5 with three stolen bases, four RBI, and two runs, while Griggs scored three runs and stole two bases while getting on base in four of her five plate appearances. That's the most runs Harrison has posted over her last 11 games. Savannah Sevier was another key player, scoring a run while going 3-for-4.

Central always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .548. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Auburn only posted an OBP of .276.

Central's win bumped their record up to 30-3. As for Auburn, their defeat ended a four-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 18-9.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Central will face off against Opelika at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Auburn, they will take on Thompson at 4:10 p.m. on Friday.
