The Coral Reef Barracudas waltzed into their contest on Thursday with three straight wins but they left with four. They put the hurt on JC Bermudez Doral with a sharp 80-55 win. Having run the score up that high, both teams probably have some extra defensive drills coming up.
Nathaniel Wesley was his usual excellent self, scoring 33 points. As a matter of fact, that's the most points he has scored all season. Ashton Williams was another key contributor, scoring ten points.
Cristian Siri and Matty Malave certainly did their best on Thursday to try and avoid the loss. Siri scored 18 points along with five rebounds and two steals, while Malave scored 17 points. Siri has been hot recently, having posted 15 or more points the last four times he's played. Another player making a difference was Erik Pardo, who scored eight points along with two steals and two blocks.
Coral Reef pushed their record up to 8-11 with that victory, which was their third straight at home. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 63.3 points per game. As for JC Bermudez Doral, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 4-8.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Coral Reef will face off against Carol City at 7:30 p.m. on Monday. Carol City has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games. JC Bermudez Doral on the road again on Monday and play against American at 7:30 p.m. on January 22nd. One thing working in American's favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last four matches.
