If the Syracuse Bulldogs were feeling good off their 48-14 takedown of the Sublette Larks last Thursday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. Syracuse took a 49-40 hit to the loss column at the hands of Elkhart on Saturday. Syracuse was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Elkhart apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in December of 2023.
Elkhart got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Madyson Brillhart out in front who dropped a double-double on 11 points and 15 rebounds. Brillhart is on a roll when it comes to rebounds, as she's now pulled down eight or more in the last four games she's played. Another player making a difference was Isabel Gonzalez, who scored five points along with nine assists and six rebounds.
Syracuse has not been sharp recently, as they've lost four of their last five matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-7 record this season. As for Elkhart, they now have a winning record of 6-5.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Syracuse on the road again on Tuesday and play against Lakin at 6:00 p.m. on January 23rd. As for Elkhart, they will square off against Deerfield at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday.
