San Juan Hills extended the longest winning streak in Sea View this week by beating Capistrano Valley, 43-16. The victory was the fourth in a row for the Stallions.
Aliso Niguel lost to Hillcrest 38-6 last week, the largest margin of any game.
Mac Vail threw for 277 yards and 4 touchdowns. He was 14-21 with 0 interceptions.
Jacob Gibson was a passing and rushing force as San Juan Hills topped the Cougars. He completed 18 passes for 236 yards and 3 touchdowns and also ran for 66 yards. Gibson's favorite target this week was Marco Cianciola, who caught 4 passes for 108 yards.
Vail and Brian Scott gave Dana Hills a balanced attack through the air and ground last week. Michael Vogeler also contributed to the rushing game with 37 yards on the ground.
On the heels of Gibson and Brad Kremer, Aaron Flowers' team has had great success on offense. Gibson leads the league in passing with 1,846 yards, while Kremer has rushed for 756 yards this season. The Dolphins' Sean Schulte leads the league in receiving yards with 695 on 35 catches.
The top two teams in the league will face off this week when first place San Juan Hills takes on second place Dana Hills. The Stallions bested Capistrano Valley last week, while Dana Hills beat Laguna Hills.
Going into this week's game against the Wolverines, Ernst Bucher's team's Matthew Gordon needs 159 passing yards to surpass 2,000 on the season. So far this year, Gordon has thrown for 1,841 yards with 17 touchdowns and 9 interceptions.
Next week's game between San Juan Hills and Todd Rusinkovich's team will feature an aerial matchup as Gibson tests his arm against Luke Williams's defensive ability.
