Basketball Recap: Friday's Win Is Nueces Canyon's Tenth in Last 11 Outings

Nueces Canyon waltzed into their matchup on Friday with two straight wins... but they left with three. They walked away with a 48-41 victory over the Medina Bobcats. That's more bragging rights for the Panthers, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.

Leading Nueces Canyon to victory were Schreiner Meredith and Kylie Kramer. Meredith dropped a double-double on 15 points and 16 rebounds, while Kramer posted 15 points in addition to seven boards and seven steals. That's the most boards Meredith has posted since back in December of 2023. Another player making a difference was Idrianna DeLeon, who had eight points in addition to six boards and four steals.

Nueces Canyon smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 16 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive rebounds in eight consecutive games.

Nueces Canyon is on a roll lately: they've won ten of their last 11 contests, which provided a nice bump to their 18-4 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 53.6 points per game. As for Medina, their defeat ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 13-9.

Nueces Canyon will welcome Rocksprings at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Nueces Canyon is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 51 points per game this season. As for Medina, they will head out to face off against D'Hanis at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Medina has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games.
