4A Region 8 recap September 24, 2013
DeWitt scaled the state rankings by moving to 84 from 124 this week, the biggest jump in 4A Region 8. The Dragons climbed the ranks as a result of topping McGehee 22-7.
Lakeside was the team that gained the most ground in the standings this week, jumping from seventh to fifth in the league. The Beavers vanquished Drew Central 46-6 earlier in the week.
6-foot-1 quarterback Dawson Moser of DeWitt is the league leader in passing yards this season with 363. He has also thrown 3 touchdowns. The leading receiver in the league this season is Darveon Brown. The Warren star has 12 catches for 174 yards.
An important game coming up in the league this week will be when Steven Jones' team takes on Hamburg. The Dragons are in third place, while the Lions are in second place.
Lakeside led 4A Region 8 in scoring this week by notching 46 points on the Pirates.
