Even though the Frazier Commodores have not done well against the California Trojans recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), they didn't let the past get in their way on Friday. Frazier walked away with an 81-72 victory over California. Having run the score up that high, both teams probably have some extra defensive drills coming up.
Frazier's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Dailan Mcmanus, who scored 21 points along with seven assists and seven steals. Those seven steals set a new season-high mark for him. Another player making a difference was Trey Whitehead, who scored 17 points.
California's loss came despite strong showings from Vincent Manzella and Jacob Ziolecki. Manzella scored 26 points along with three steals, while Ziolecki scored 20 points along with eight rebounds and six assists. That's the first time this season that Ziolecki scored 15 or more points. The team also got some help courtesy of Jacquese Derns, who dropped a double-double on 12 points and ten rebounds.
Frazier is on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven matches, which provided a nice bump to their 6-4 record this season. As for California, they still haven't won a game yet this season and fell to 0-9.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Frazier and Fort Cherry will face off at 7:00 p.m. on January 2, 2024 without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. California and West Greene will face off at 7:00 p.m. on January 3, 2024 without much rest after finishing up games yesterday.
