Morrison is 0-6 against Alleman since April of 2015 but things could change on Friday. The Mustangs will face off against the Pioneers at 4:30 p.m. Morrison is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.4 runs per game this season.
Morrison was handed a six-run defeat in their previous outing, but that didn't affect their clutch gene on Wednesday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against Amboy, sneaking past 2-1. The Mustangs haven't had any issues with the Clippers recently, as the game was their third consecutive victory against them.
Carson White made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he tossed seven innings while giving up just one earned run off five hits. White was also big at the plate, getting on base in all four of his plate appearances. What's more, he posted two hits, the most he's had since back in March.
In other batting news, Kamden White was excellent, going 2-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one double. Ayden Meinsma was another key player, getting on base in two of his three plate appearances with one stolen base and one run.
Meanwhile, Alleman had already won three in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 4.3 runs) and they went ahead and made it four on Friday. They came out on top against the Rocks by a score of 9-6.
Kelly Honert looked comfortable as he tossed three innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off four hits. He has been consistent for a while: he hasn't given up more than two walks in 14 consecutive appearances.
At the plate, Alleman let Cael Kuster and Jackson Smith run wild. Kuster went 3-for-4 with three runs and one RBI, while Smith went 2-for-4 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run. Smith has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last three times he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Nolan Buchen, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base and two RBI.
Alleman hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. The team has now struck out at least four batters in nine consecutive matchups.
Alleman's win bumped their record up to 26-9. As for Morrison, their victory bumped their record up to 11-9.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Friday as neither team is afraid to steal. Morrison has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 2.8 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Alleman struggles in that department as they've been averaging 5.2 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
Morrison couldn't quite get it done against Alleman in their previous matchup back in May of 2024 as they fell 7-2. Can the Mustangs avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
