Chetopa is 1-9 against Oswego since February of 2015 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Tuesday. Having just played yesterday, the Chetopa Hornets will get right back to it and host the Oswego Indians at 7:30 p.m. on February 13th. Chetopa is still on the hunt for that elusive first 'W'.
Chetopa might be feeling deja-vu: they lost 2-0 to Yates Center, which was the same score (and result) they got the week prior. Chetopa has struggled against Yates Center recently, as their matchup on Monday was their eighth consecutive lost matchup.
Meanwhile, Oswego was able to grind out a solid victory over Pleasanton on Friday, taking the game 45-33.
Oswego's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Owen Jackson led the charge by scoring 14 points along with six rebounds and four steals. Jackson has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last four times he's played. Another player making a difference was Josh Hutchinson, who scored 16 points along with six rebounds and five assists.
Chetopa dropped their record down to 0-14 with that loss, which was their 14th straight at home dating back to last season. That rough patch could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 18.8 points per game. As for Oswego, their win bumped their record up to 7-11.
Chetopa took a serious blow against Oswego in their previous matchup back in December of 2023, falling 65-26. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of Oswego's Tanner O'neal, who almost dropped a double-double on 23 points and nine steals. Now that Chetopa knows the damage he can cause, will they be able to stop him this time? Check MaxPreps.com after the match to find out.
