The Flint Hill Huskies are taking a road trip to take on the Episcopal Maroon at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. Flint Hill is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.9 runs per game this season.
Flint Hill took a loss when they played away from home on Tuesday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Thursday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 9-7 win over Sidwell Friends. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Huskies have posted since March 8th.
The team relied heavily on Logan Lucca, who scored a run and stole a base while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances. What's more, he posted three RBI, the most he's had since back in March. Another player making a difference was Zach Rachinsky, who scored a run while going 2-for-3.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Episcopal). They blew past Bullis 23-8 on Thursday. The Maroon not only won on Thursday, but they posted their biggest win since March 11, 2024.
Hill Hubbard was incredible, going a perfect 3-for-3 with four runs, four RBI, and two doubles. The team also got some help courtesy of Charlie Wilhelm, who scored three runs while getting on base in three of his five plate appearances.
Episcopal always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .667. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
Flint Hill's win was their 12th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 10-4. The home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.9 runs on average over those games. As for Episcopal, the win snapped their losing streak at three games and leaves them with a 3-7-1 record.
Flint Hill couldn't quite finish off Episcopal in their previous meeting back in March of 2024 and fell 3-1. Can the Huskies avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
