On Monday, the Westlake Academy Blacksmiths's game was all tied up 1-1 at the half, but luckily for them it didn't stay that way. They came out on top against Varsity Opponent by a score of 3-1. The win made it back-to-back wins for Westlake Academy.
They were led to victory by the tag-team duo of
Will Smith and
Christian Gougov, who scored all three of Westlake Academy's goals. The pair have combined for a total of seven so far this season.
Westlake Academy's win bumped their record up to 4-5. As for Varsity Opponent, their defeat was their eighth straight at home, which dropped their record down to 5-58-4.
Westlake Academy is on the road again on Thursday and plays North Central Texas Academy at 6:30 p.m. on February 15th. Westlake Academy will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Texas Rankings (they are ranked 645th, while North Central Texas Academy is ranked 189th). As for Varsity Opponent, they will play host again and welcome Westlake Academy, where kickoff is scheduled for 7:00 p.m. on Monday.
