Basketball Game Preview: South Charlotte Thunder vs. Metrolina Christian Academy Warriors

South Charlotte hasn't had much luck against Metrolina Christian Academy recently, but that could start to change on Tuesday. The South Charlotte Thunder will look to defend their home court against the Metrolina Christian Academy Warriors at 6:15 p.m. South Charlotte will be strutting in after a win while Metrolina Christian Academy will be coming in after a loss.

South Charlotte took a loss when they played away from home back in December of 2024, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Saturday. They snuck past Providence Athletic Club with a 35-30 victory. The win was all the more spectacular given the Thunder's disadvantage in MaxPreps' basketball rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked 459th in North Carolina, while the Panthers are ranked 141st in South Carolina).

South Charlotte found their leader in freshman Caroline Gidney, who dropped a double-double on ten points and 19 rebounds. Those 19 rebounds gave Gidney a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Bella Aitchison, who posted 12 points.

Meanwhile, after a string of four wins, Metrolina Christian Academy's good fortune finally ran out on Saturday. They fell just short of North Raleigh Christian Academy by a score of 57-55.

Metrolina Christian Academy's defeat dropped their record down to 8-5. As for South Charlotte, the victory was their first at home , bumping their record up to 3-10.

South Charlotte took a serious blow against Metrolina Christian Academy when the teams last played back in December of 2024, falling 44-17. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of Metrolina Christian Academy's Hayden Goodwin, who went 7 of 14 on her way to 16 points along with seven steals and six boards.
