Basketball Recap: Columbia Puts Losing Streak Behind Them

Branford came into Monday's contest looking for another win against Columbia, but AYESHA BROXEY wouldn't allow it. Everything went the Columbia Tigers' way against the Branford Buccaneers on Monday as the Columbia Tigers made off with a 61-40 victory thanks in part to BROXEY, who went 9 of 21 on her way to 27 points along with seven steals and six boards. That's the most points she has posted since back in January.

The team also got some help courtesy of ERIEL BAKER, who posted ten points and five rebounds. She is also on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last four games she's played.

Despite the defeat, Branford saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Brianna Barrs dropped a double-double on 11 points and 13 boards. Those 13 rebounds set a new season-high mark for Barrs. Kalyn Osgood was another key player, putting up six points.

Columbia moved to 3-4 with that win, which also ended their four-game losing streak. As for Branford, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 4-2.

Columbia didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 59-40 victory against P.K. Yonge on the 12th. As for Branford, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next game, a 71-32 win against Aucilla Christian on the 10th.
